I am not the most religious person, but I did spend my formative years in Catholic schools. Religion was one of my best subjects.

Many graduates of Catholic schools, me included, can debate the benefits of a religious-based education. There are some good things.

And there are some bad things. Many of my Catholic teachers were very cruel and very un-Christian toward their students. Some were bigots.

As adults, many grads remember their bad experiences in the classroom and mix it up with their feelings about religion and the church. They stop believing in organized religion.

Some of the most devote Catholics I know went to public schools! (John Tory do you need me as an adviser.)

OK, back to religion. I tried to purchase an Easter card for a relative who is a saint. Among the 50 or so cards on display, there were only two cards that had anything to do with God, let alone Jesus.

Most has messages about love and family. Nice sentiments but really!

Why are Christians letting marketers take Jesus out of Easter? Easter is the highest Christian holiday of the year.

It would be better to not celebrate Easter at all then to forget its religious meaning.
