June 18 at 9pm: LOCAL RECORD LABEL PROVIDES YOUTH WITH AN ALTERNATIVE ENTERTAINMENT VENUE AT ALL AGE MUSIC EVENT. Sudbury's Omerta Records has teamed up with The Marketing Machine to provide youth with a safe and fun environment to enjoy a night of house and techno dance music, Jubilee Centre, 195 Applegrove Street, contact Derek Young, The Marketing Machine, 705-918-2601.

 
June 19 from 11am to 8pm: Downtown Rotary Blues for Food. This fun family event features children's activities and children's entertainers as well as 8 Blues Bands, BBQ and a Refreshment Tent. Proceeds from the event go to the Sudbury Food Bank. Admission: Non-perishable Food Items or Cash Donation. For more info call 674-5115.

 
June 19 at 8pm: Blues musician Paul Reddick, with The Sassy Strummers, JoPo and Miss Stephanie, Shaughnessy’s, 187 Shaughnessy St. Tickets $10, non-perishable food items collected.

June 21 from 7am to 12noon: Aboriginal Day Celebration, hosted by Better Beginnings Better Futures & Aboriginal Best Start Hub Advisory Committee. June 27 at 8pm: House concert with Bill Bourne. For those who missed the opportunity to see Bill Bourne at the Townhouse earlier this spring, this is an opportunity to experience a multiple Juno Award nominee and winner up close in a more intimate setting. Admission is $20 (all proceeds go to the artist).  Bring whatever you want to drink and something to contribute to the snack table. You must make reservations in advance by calling Val at 673-1942. Audition dates for Theatre Cambrian’s The Best of Billboard Concert are scheduled for Friday, July 2nd (6:00pm-9:00pm), Saturday, July 3rd (1:00pm-5:00pm) and Sunday, July 4th (1:00pm-5:00pm). Audition requirements are one up-tempo song and one ballad. The songs must show your vocal range. To book a private audition, please phone 524-7317. Calling all young musicians! Kick off your summer with a Songwriting and Recording Boot Camp. The event will be held at Confederation Secondary School, Sudbury from July 5 to 7. July 16-18: Traditional drum making weekend being held at Gordon's Park, 18777 Hwy 6, Tehkummah, Manitoulin Island. The weekend includes making a traditional deerhide drum using authentic Manitoulin deer hides and the making of the striker as well as camping for two nights, use of the solar heated swimming pool and nature centre with hiking trails. August 20-26: Tracing the 1837 Journey of Anna Jameson, A Canoe Trek From Thessalon to Great La Cloche Island, A seven day canoe trek for new and experienced paddlers. Trace the route of Anna Jameson, the first non-aboriginal woman to canoe the Mackinac-Manitoulin passage. Visits sites off the beaten track. Join us as we tent under the stars in the stunning beauty of the North Channel, and travel through the famous Benjamin Islands. Led by expert canoe and adventure guide Chris Taggert, you'll receive paddling tips and hear stories about Chris's adventures. The history, culture, art and literature of the area will come alive through professor and writer Tom Gerry, PhD, and writer/artist Sophie Edwards, PhD Candidate. You can read, knit, check email, play with cats - whatever you like! Volunteers must be friendly, like cats, be bondable and be reliable. You might want to do this with a friend so that you can trade shifts as needed (vacation, etc.) Benefits?
