Most couples become officially engaged at Christmas or on Valentine's Day. Then they start to plan their summer weddings...sometimes a year ahead of the date.
To help couples plan for their big day, Sudbury Living Weddings is available now at selected newsstands, participating retailers, and at bridal shows.
The 2010 edition of Sudbury Living Weddings has stories on how to plan a perfect wedding without going into debt. In addition, couples will find out how to have a green wedding that takes it easy on the environment and much more.
Here is a sample of what you'll find in Sudbury Living Weddings.

Your Day, Your Way
Sudbury's Rev. Michael Marcotte and his wife, Karen, launched Door to Door Ministers last year to accommodate couples that want something other than a traditional church wedding. The Marcottes get many requests to conduct outdoor weddings. They provided services at two weddings on New Year's Eve, and they are looking forward to a wedding this summer at a golf course where the couple's four dogs will be part of the ceremony.
For more information about Door to Door Ministers, phone 919-8138 or visit www.doortodoorministers.ca.

The "perfect" wedding date for 2010 is Oct. 10, 2010–the 10th day of the 10th month of the 10th year of the 21st century. Oct. 10, 2010 can be written as 10-10-2010 or 10-10-10.Since Oct. 10, 2010 is a Sunday, couples may decide to get married Saturday, Oct. 9, and begin their honeymoon on a perfect 10. (Monday, Oct. 11 is Thanksgiving.)

Personalized postage stamps with a picture of the happy couple can be ordered from Canada Post. A favourite photograph can be turned into memorable keepsakes that can also use as postage for wedding invitations and thank you cards. Information on how to order stamps is available at the Canada Post website. The cost $24.95 per sheet. For more information, phone 1-866-742-7678.

As of January 2010, couples can be married at city hall in Sudbury (Tom Davies Square). Information about civil marriage ceremonies is available from the vital statistics office when the couple applies for a marriage licence.Civil weddings will be conducted Fridays, according to city clerk Angie Haché. The cost of the service will be $250.  The ceremonies can take place in the council chambers or a smaller room if the couple wishes, she says.
