Sudbury part of national food drive

|

The Extra Helping™ Spring National Food Drive  runs from April 8 to 28 across Ontario.

Spring is a difficult time for food banks as they work to stock up for the summer and despite contributions made during the holiday season food reserves are running low. To help address this challenge, Sudbury’s local YIG’s, RCSS Lasalle and  Coniston Value Mart is calling on the Citizens of our Greater Sudbury  community to add a little extra to their shopping carts and donate non-perishable food items or funds at check-out.

The Sudbury Food Bank’s 45 member agencies service over 14,000 residents per month and 56 percent of them children, who all rely on a food bank in an average month in the Sudbury community.

One hundred percent of food donations and 70 percent of cash donations will go directly to the Sudbury Food Bank's member agencies.

Contact the Banque d’aliments Sudbury Food Bank (BDSFB) by calling 705-671-9663 or emailing sudburyfoodbank@vianet.ca or visit the website at www.sudburyfoodbank.ca.
